These recommendations are intended as a guide only. Intakes may vary according to the quality and type of forage used, the amount of grazing time available and, in addition, the horse’s metabolic rate and type of work being carried out.
These feed levels give the minimum and maximum feeding rates for each range of bodyweights (BW), ie a pony of any BW between 200-400kg could be fed between 1-2kg per day depending on their requirements.
Soak times:
5-10 mins warm water
20 mins cold water
Can be soaked overnight
Minimum 1 part feed to 2 parts water for soaking
Can also be fed dry without soaking
